Siding and Shutters

Siding and Shutter Color Combinations

Choosing the right siding and shutter color combinations to go with your new vinyl siding can become overwhelming to many homeowners. Our job here at Reliable Window and Siding is to make the experience as easy as possible. There are two ways a homeowner can address this; a technical approach and an instinctive approach. Considering these two approaches can narrow down your selections significantly and help you reach your end goal.

With the right color combinations, a homeowner can evoke the kinds of emotions that they want there guests to feel when they come over. It starts with understanding your options. Choosing colors that work well together can often be a shot in the dark. Below are two categories that every homeowner should consider when choosing shutters.

Complimentary Colors

Complimentary colors are opposite to each other on the color wheel. These can evoke feelings of excitement. Here are some examples:

•Red and Green

•Yellow and Purple(Violet)

•Blue and Orange

Analogous Colors

Analogous colors are close to each other on the color wheel. These give a more particular feeling, such as warm and cozy or cold and depressing. Here are some examples:

Tint and Shade

Finding the perfect color combination is half the battle. All siding manufacturers have specific colors that they sell. But, all of the colors will vary based on a slightly different“tint” or “shade.” A “tint” is the mixture of a color with white. A “shade” is the mixture of a color with black. When you add tint and shade together, you get a “tone,” which is the color’s relative degree of lightness and darkness.

Using programs such as Alside Visualizer PRO and Alside Visualizer DIY, homeowners can now see first hand what colors and products would look best on the exterior of their home.
